BC is the "smaller" system, so it reads as the simple staffing job. In practice it's the opposite.

BC talent doesn't sit where F&O talent sits.

F&O runs through a handful of big partners and SIs, plus the internal teams at larger end-users. BC runs through a long tail of smaller VARs, scattered across the country. The deep specialists are out there, but they're spread thin, and most aren't looking.

So businesses do the logical thing, spreading the net. They try to cover BC with an F&O consultant, or a generalist "Dynamics person."

Then the build stalls, and nobody can work out why.

BC delivery is its own craft. The person who's great at a multi-entity F&O rollout is not automatically the person who ships a clean BC implementation for a growing mid-market firm.

And demand keeps climbing. Microsoft's own numbers put BC at over 55,000 customers now, up from 40,000 in 2024.

The customer base grew. The specialist pool hasn't kept pace.

The system is smaller. The talent problem is growing larger.

I work with Microsoft Partners, ISVs and end users across the US, helping them build permanent and freelance teams across the Dynamics 365 ecosystem.
