Redefining what insurance is for
The marketing and strategy behind the work
Australian insurer Suncorp looked at its own claims data and saw something the industry had been ignoring: most damage is preventable, but people only think about insurance after disaster strikes.
Its response was Haven, a platform that gives every Australian home a personalised climate risk assessment, making resilience feel urgent and personal rather than abstract.
The work scooped Cannes' most prized Lion: the Titanium Grand Prix, lifted marketing ROI by 238% and led to an additional $2.9bn of resilience funding from the Australian government.
Created by Leo Australia, with production by UNIT9 London.
Why it works
This is category-breaking data strategy. Instead of using its data simply to price risk and process claims, Suncorp used it to rethink the role an insurer could play before anything goes wrong. Data strategy and product innovation haven't just redefined the category, they've created a long-term public service.
