Time moves faster than you think
Sometimes the biggest regret is the move you never made
Having been in recruitment for over twenty years, I know time moves faster than you think.
I've seen first hand people don’t regret the risks they took. But they do regret the moves they talked themselves out of because it felt sensible at the time.
“Getting by” is rarely the plan. It’s just what happens by default.
Sometimes it can be due to a life changing event like redundancy, moving house or having a baby that's a motivation to be your own boss. As the risks seem worth it.
But whatever your situation don't regret not taking the chance to back yourself if it's on your mind. And you don't need a life changing event to prompt it, just the motivation to start the conversation.
In recruitment, momentum compounds over time. So does hesitation.
The people who build something meaningful rarely wait for perfect timing. They decide, then adjust. They back their experience. They trust their network. They take ownership of their direction.
Thinking about backing yourself?
If the idea of running your own desk has been sitting quietly in the background, it might be worth bringing it to the surface.
